Privacy Policy

The short version: Wayward has no account, no servers, and no analytics. We don't collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you. Your location never leaves your device, except as map tiles and route requests handled by Apple Maps when you choose to use a map.

Who we are

Wayward is an off-road navigation app published by Singularity Film. You can reach us at moss@singularityfilm.co.uk.

What we collect

Nothing. Wayward has no user accounts, no sign-up, no backend server of our own, and no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not build a profile of you and we have no way to identify you.

Your location

Wayward uses your device's GPS location, with your permission, only while the app is open, to:

point the compass at the next waypoint on your ride;
show your position and detect when you reach a waypoint;
record the track of your ride so it can be shown on your ride summary.

Your location and your recorded ride track stay on your device. They are held only for the current ride and are not uploaded to us or to anyone else. We never sell or share your location.

Maps and routing (Apple MapKit)

When you use the map (the Route preview, the Guided ride map, or the ride summary), and when Wayward calculates the road sections between off-road lanes, the app uses Apple's MapKit. To draw maps and compute those routes, MapKit sends the relevant map region and start/end coordinates to Apple's servers. This is standard Apple functionality and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Wayward does not receive or store this information itself. The core Adventure compass works offline and needs no network at all once your ride is planned.

Data sharing

We do not share any data with third parties, because we do not collect any. The only network communication is the Apple MapKit activity described above. If you tap "Share summary," your device's standard share sheet lets you choose where to send a short text summary of your ride — that is entirely your choice.

Children

Wayward is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this app ever adds features that handle data differently (for example, saving or sharing routes online), we will update this policy and the "last updated" date above before that feature ships.
